Invisalign® Q & A

What is Invisalign?

Invisalign uses a series of clear aligners to straighten teeth that are crooked, too crowded, or gapped. The aligners can perfect your teeth and smile, helping you gain confidence. Invisalign smooth aligners are comfortable and fit over the entire surface of your teeth.

What are the benefits of Invisalign?

Some of the many benefits you can expect with Invisalign treatment at Wellness Dental Care include:

  • Highly effective results
  • No wires or brackets
  • Comfortable aligners
  • Fast treatment times
  • Easier teeth cleaning
  • No more tooth gaps

Unlike braces, you can take the aligners out of your mouth as needed to eat and brush your teeth. Because they are clear, many people won’t realize you’re wearing them.

Is Invisalign right for me?

To find out if you’re a candidate for Invisalign treatment, the experts at Wellness Dental Care review your oral health history, examine your teeth and gums, and take dental X-rays if needed. Your dentist discusses your desired outcome before personalizing an orthodontics treatment that’s best for you. The Wellness Dental Care team also offers traditional braces.

What should I expect during Invisalign treatment?

To develop custom-fitted aligners, your dentist digitally scans your teeth. The digital scan allows a dental lab to create aligners that fit perfectly over the top of your natural teeth. When the aligners are ready, you can begin wearing them for 20-22 hours every day, including when you sleep. Take the aligners out of your mouth to eat, floss, brush your teeth or use mouthwash.

Every week or two, you can switch to the next set of aligners in your treatment until your teeth reach their ideal position. The average time for Invisalign treatment is 12-18 months.

Keep your aligners clean by using the Invisalign cleaning system directed by your dentist or brushing them with a toothbrush and toothpaste. Avoid rinsing the aligners with hot water, as warp the plastic. Call Wellness Dental Care if the aligners get damaged or lost.

What happens after my treatment?

After Invisalign treatment, enjoy your beautiful teeth and smile. You might need to wear a retainer to keep your teeth in their new alignment long-term. Schedule routine dental cleanings and checkups with Wellness Dental Care every six months.
